Lining outside polling booths across Bangalore many college-goers and young professionals waited patiently for their turn to vote.

Many admitted that having young candidates sent a positive message to the youth that the youth are interested in Indian polity and improving the state of affairs.

Madhukeshwar Desai, law student at Christ Law College, said: “Youngsters should either stand for elections or vote. Don’t crib about it.’’ First-time voters were merry. “I felt empowered and responsible. I want the party I support to educate and empower the youth,’’ said Abhishek Chaudhary, 18. “I’d vote for a honest candidate whose work speaks louder than his words,’’ said Yash Kajaria, 18, of PES Institute of Technology. Yash said everybody in his family is conscientious and always votes. Vikas P V, 23, also a first-time voter, said he voted because its a family tradition. Continue Reading

A little something like receiving extraharsh criticism from the judges for weeks on end, being in the bottom three for several weeks in a row and having America vote them off isn’t going to get Anoop Desai or Lil Rounds down.
