Young men living in parental home may have a more violent streak

A novel research indicates that young men staying at home with their parents may most often be more violent as compared to those living independently. This intriguing observation was made by Professor Jeremy Coid and Dr. Ming Yang from Queen Mary, University of London.

In the US and UK, staying back in one’s parental home and delaying social independence has allegedly become a more common norm over the past 4 decades. These researchers have pointed out that young men staying at home may relatively have lesser responsibilities. Such men, in their early twenties, may also have more disposable income to spend on potentially hazardous substances like alcohol. Read more »

Swine fever kills 500 pigs in Mizoram

AIZAWL: More than 500 pigs have died of swine fever locally known as ‘vawk pulhri’ in parts of Mizoram during the past fortnight, triggering panic of swine flu among locals.

“The H1N1 or swine flu virus has not yet been detected in the state. The swine fever first identified in 1980 had killed a large number of pigs,” Director of State Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department, Dr C Sangnghina told PTI here here today. Continue Reading

Google plans Chrome-based Web operating system

That Google operating system rumor is coming true–and it’s based on Google’s browser, Chrome.

The company announced Google Chrome OS on its blog Tuesday night, saying lower-end PCs called Netbooks from unnamed manufacturers will include it in the second half of 2010. Linux will run under the covers of the open-source project, but the applications will run on the Web itself.
