Accrual
The accumulation of KrisFlyer miles you earn.

Award Flights / Award Tickets
The flights or tickets for which you redeem your KrisFlyer miles.

Blackout Dates
Certain dates when redemption travel is not available or is restricted. For the convenience of all our frequent flyers, Singapore Airlines has NO blackout dates.

Bonus Miles
The additional miles awarded to KrisFlyer members over and above the basic earning rate. Please note that these miles do not count towards tier qualification/re-qualification.

Code-share Flights
Flights provided by an airline under another carrier’s name and aircraft. On code-share flights, the flights may be operated by another airline and may not be eligible for mileage accrual in KrisFlyer.

E-Ticket
A ‘paperless’ ticket that is processed electronically. For your security, a receipt is issued for every E-Ticket.

Earn/Burn
A term for mileage accrual and redemption.

Exclusion Classes
Certain booking fares are not eligible for mileage accrual. For Singapore Airlines, the booking fares not eligible for mileage accrual are V, Q, G, N or T.

Full Awards
These awards provide access to more redemption seats when redeeming miles, especially on popular flights and during peak periods. Members also enjoy two free stopovers per round-trip and extended ticket validity of 12 months when they travel on a Full award ticket.

Gateway Airports
Domestic airports that are origination points for foreign destinations.

Great Circle Distance
The distance over the surface of the earth between two points, computed using their latitude and longitude.

Non-Air Awards
Occasionally, KrisFlyer members may also redeem their KrisFlyer miles for products and services offered by our non-air partners and third parties if they are available. When these are available, members are informed via the bi-monthly e-newsletter. To subscribe to the e-newsletter, please click here. Open-jaw
A round-trip ticket that has three or more points of departure/arrival. A destination open-jaw occurs if a person flies from a point of origin to one destination, and returns to the origin from a different destination; for instance, if he/she flies from Singapore to London, but returns to Singapore from Paris.

On the other hand, an origin open-jaw occurs when a person flies from a point of origin to one destination, and returns to a different point; for instance, he/she flies from Sydney to Singapore, but returns to Melbourne.

Promotion Code
A series of numbers and/or letters that must be quoted or cited when booking in order to obtain the stated special bonuses or rates.

Qualifying Transaction
An eligible flight on Singapore Airlines (on any booking class except V, Q, G, N or T) and SilkAir (on any booking class except V, Q, G, N, T, W or L), or any eligible transaction with our other partners.

Retroactive Mileage Claim
If KrisFlyer miles earned by KrisFlyer members have not been credited to their accounts, a request to credit these miles can be made online or on a Retroactive Mileage Claim form. KrisFlyer miles can also be awarded to new KrisFlyer members who may have flown on Singapore Airlines up to 6 months prior to enrolment.

Retroactive mileage credit will be honoured for a period of six months from the date of flight or partner transaction.

Members should allow one to three weeks for miles earned on Singapore Airlines and KrisFlyer partner airline flights, and six to eight weeks for miles earned with KrisFlyer non-air partners, to appear in their account before raising a claim for missing miles. Such mileage credits will require documentary proof of the flight or partner transaction.

Retroactive Mileage Credit
Crediting of miles claimed retroactively.

Saver Awards
These are awards offered in Economy, Business and First Class in most aircraft types. Saver awards require fewer KrisFlyer miles, enabling members to fly for free sooner. As saver awards are very popular, availability may be limited and some restrictions may apply.

Standard Awards
These flight awards provide a greater selection of seats on all flights, extended ticket validity and two free stopovers per round-trip, giving our members extra flexibility.

Standby
A passenger is put on standby when he or she arrives at an airport without a confirmed reservation and is prepared to fly should a seat become available at the last moment. KrisFlyer Elite Silver, KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club and Solitaire PPS Club members are given priority on airport standby lists.

Stopover
A stopover occurs when a member arrives at an intermediate point during his/her travel and is not scheduled to depart within 24 hours of arrival. A break of less than 24 hours is considered a transit.

Ticketing Time Limit
All redemption bookings include a ticketing time limit. Confirmed bookings must be ticketed immediately. Waitlisted bookings must be ticketed within the specified time limit when the bookings are confirmed or the full itinerary for that booking will be cancelled.

Tier Bonus
These are miles awarded to KrisFlyer Elite Silver, KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club and Solitaire PPS Club members in addition to the actual mileage earned based on the distance flown on Singapore Airlines, SilkAir or Virgin Atlantic. Please note that tier bonus miles can only be used for redemption purposes, and do not count towards tier qualification/re-qualification.

Upgrade Awards
Awards that elevate members to the next class of travel. For example, if you hold an Economy Class ticket, you can upgrade yourself to Business Class. However, there are no ‘double class’ upgrades on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir; for instance, a member holding an Economy Class ticket cannot upgrade to First Class. Exclusion classes apply. On Singapore Airlines only tickets booked in S,Y, B or E class are eligible for upgrade award redemption. In an itinerary with multiple sectors, only the sectors booked under one of these classes are eligible for upgrade award redemption.

Waitlist
Passengers who request seats on fully booked flights can be put on a waitlist where seats will become available upon cancellation. KrisFlyer Elite Silver, KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club and Solitaire PPS Club members are given priority on reservation waitlists.

In Mizoram, ‘Chapchar kut’- one of the most important festival of the Mizos was observed today. People all over the state colourfully dressed in their traditional attire flock together to perform traditional dances with sounds of Gongs and drums accompanying them.

The festival was held as a brief layoff time for merry making after the forest have been cut down and awaited to dry to be burnt for jhumming.

Chief minister Mr Lalthanhawla speaking on the occassion expressed hope that the festival would promote the spirit of hard work and a feeling of goodwill towards others as observed by their ancestors.

Meanwhile, Mizoram is all set to attempt a new Guinness World Record on ‘Largest Bamboo Dance’ locally known as ‘Cheraw’ to be held in Aizawl tomorrow.

The mass bamboo dance will be performed at The Assam Rifles Ground stretching towards the Main streets covering a length of more than 2 kilometres, which is expected to make it not only the ‘largest’ but also the ‘longest bamboo dance’ in the world.

About 671 groups of dancers totalling more than ten thousand seven hundred ‘Cheraw’ dancers are expected to perform in this event.
